Clara G. (Thompson) Reece (1919 - 2012)

QUASQUETON – Clara G. Reece, 93, of Quasqueton, died Friday morning, Aug. 31, at the Buchanan County Long Term Care Center in Independence.
Clara was born on April 3, 1919, in Center Point the daughter of Thomas P. and Mary K. (Nielsen) Thompson. She was married to Vernon D. Reece on May 1, 1938 in Manchester. The couple farmed in the Lamont and Robinson areas prior to moving to Cedar Rapids in 1941. Clara was employed with Wilson Foods in Cedar Rapids for 28 years prior to her retirement in 1975 folowing their retirement the couple moved to Quasqueton.
She was a member of the P-3 retirees, and the Hoover Church near Walker.
Clara is survived by two sons; Loren (Barbara) Reece, Ely and Wendell (Catherine) Reece, Cedar Rapids, six grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, numerous nieces and nephews, and her former daughter-in-laws; Mary Reece and Carol Miller of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vernon D. Reece on May 18, 2002, four sisters; Minnie Andrews, Anna Thompson, Margaret Hughson, and Christine Troxel; and three brothers; Carl Thompson, Glen Thompson, and Antone Thompson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at the Hoover Wesleyan Church, rural Walker with Burial in the Circle Grove Cemetery next to the church. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, Iowa and from 9 a.m. to services Tuesday at the church.
