Clara A. Medulan, 70 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence following a short illness. She was born on June 16, 1940 in Albany, New York, the daughter of Henry David and Mary Jean (Stock) Aldrich. She graduated from high school in Independence, Iowa, in 1958 and then attended Pitzies Beauty School in Waterloo, Iowa. On June 18, 1960, she and William "Bill" Stanley Medulan were married at the First Lutheran Church in Manchester, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 2007. Mrs. Medulan did assembly work at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for 30 years. She retired in 1997. Mrs. Medulan was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and enjoyed league bowling and playing golf. She also kept busy with handiwork and was a crochet master.
Medulan is survived by 2 sisters, Wanda (Brian) Hobson of Eldora, Iowa, and Kathleen (Robert) Tully of Olathe, Kansas, 1 brother, Gary Aldrich of Edmond, Oklahoma, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and 2 nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 27, 2010, at the White Funeral Home in Independence, Iowa, with the Rev. Sue Ann Raymond officiating. Casket Bearers will be Bob Tully, Gary Aldrich, Jr., Robert Peterson, Jr., Brian Hobson, Joshua Hobson, Tom Thompson, and Jeff Tully. Burial will be at 2 p.m. on Aug. 27th, at the Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Ryan, Iowa.
White Funeral Home of Independence, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call for visitation after 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 26th, at the funeral home where an O.E.S. Service begins at 7 p.m. A Memorial Fund has been established. On line condolences may be left at
