Independence - Clement H. Lynch, 82, of Independence, died Wednesday, July 8, at his home following a long battle with emphysema. He was born on March 31, 1927, in Sepulveda, Calif., the son of Clement Bartholomew and Margaret Josephine (Kelly) Lynch. He attended the Buchanan County schools. On Sept. 14, 1946, he and the former Deloris Darlene Bergstrom were married in Winthrop.
Lynch was an assembly worker for John Deere and Co. in Waterloo, for 30 years before retiring in 1984.
Lynch is survived by his wife of 62 years, Delores, and two daughters: Anne (Larry) Dake of Vinton, and Christine Hutsenpiller of Independence. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Teresa Lazenby of Keystone; Lori Harris of Marion; Mike Dake of Des Moines; Jeff Dake of Norway; Aaron Haas of Independence and Tracy Haas of Waterloo; 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and one sister, Marcella (Robert) Strempke, of Independence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Marie Ulrich and Marian Lynch, and 1 brother, Jim Lynch.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, at the White Funeral Home in Independence, with Dr. David A. Larson officiating. Aaron Haas, Mike Dake, Jeff Dake, David Lynch, Jon Lynch, and Tim Lynch will be Casket Bearers. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.
White Funeral Home of Independence, is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, July 10, at the funeral home.
