Obituary

Dunkerton – Cletus Leonard Steffen, 78, of Dunkerton, died Jan. 22, 2010, surrounded by his family at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo. He was born Feb. 1, 1931, in rural Black Hawk County, near Dunkerton, the son of Joseph Nicholas Steffen and Mathilda "Tillie" Apolonia Meier.
Steffen is survived by his wife, Margaret, of Dunkerton; seven sons: Kenneth (Brenda) of Dunkerton, Kevin (Jeanette) of Waterloo; Dan (Wanda) of Dunkerton; Dale (Audrey) of Dunkerton; Robert (Wendy) of Dewar; Randall (Kara) of Liverpool, N.Y. and Joseph (Renee) of Waterloo; five daughters: Karen (Mark) Stueland of Tipton; Donna (Steve) McNulty of Janesville; Colleen (Chris) Jensen of Amana; Kathleen (Dale) Stiles of Liverpool, N.Y., and Sara (Eric) Shook of Urbana, Ill.; 30 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; six brothers; one sister and one sister-in-law, Betty Steffen of Ames.
In addition to his parents, one granddaughter; one brother; one sister and two sisters-in-law preceded him in death.
Visitation will be after 7:00 p.m. Sunday, and from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, where there will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 8:00 p.m. Sunday and Parish Rosary at 3:00 p.m. and Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Monday. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Tuesday at the church. Memorials will be directed to Don Bosco High School in Gilbertville. Online condolences may be left at www.white-mthope.com
