The Guest Book is expired.

Dale Arthur Bowden was born at home in Fremont Township near Masonville, April 20, 1916, the son of Arthur and Jennie Basquin Bowden. He attended the Haven and Bowden Country Schools. After completing school, he began farming.
Dale was united in marriage to Alma Broers on March 26, 1939, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Dundee, Iowa. To this union were born three children: Galen, Harlen and Karen. The family farmed on one of his parents' farms until they purchased her parents' farm north of Masonville. After more than 40 years of marriage, Alma died in 1981. Dale lived in various places until he married Marvel Van Cleave in 1993. They resided in Oelwein before moving to Independence. Marvel died in 2002.
Over the years, he was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Dundee and the Farm Bureau. He had many interests, especially helping other seniors by delivering meals to them for several years. Seeing the sites locally as well as out-of-state, he enjoyed traveling. He also liked working with wood and recycled metal and was adamant about recycling everything that was possible.
After a recent fall at home, Dale entered into his eternal rest Nov. 15 at the Buchanan County Health Center. He was 94. Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Alma; his second wife, Marvel; his son, Harlen; his granddaughter, Denise; and his two sisters: Audrey Bowden and Jean Koohy.
Survivors include his son, Galen (Patsy) Bowden of Lamont; his daughter, Karen (Ron) Anderson of Stockbridge, Ga; six grandchildren: Jean Bowden, Cynthia Aponte, Arthur Bowden, Candi Bowden, Shristi Shonka, and Alison Bowden; three great grandchildren: Lisa, Zaladet, and Tevlen; his brother, John Bowden of Masonville; his special friend, Ruby Linsley of Independence, and many other relatives and friends.
