David A. Clinton, 49, of Independence, died June 4, 2010, at his home following a sudden illness. He was born on July 29, 1960, in Santa Cruz, Calif., the son of Duane Kenneth and Dorothy Ann (Forsythe) Clinton. On April 3, 1993, he and the former Sharlene Marie Higgins were married in Independence. Clinton is survived by his wife, Sharlene; two sons, Jeremy Lawless of Oelwein and Thomas Straw of Cedar Rapids; four daughters: Summer (Dexter) Deck of Marion, Dawn Sattizahn and Amanda Straw, both of Independence, and Linda Clinton of West Union. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; his mother, Dorothy Clinton of Independence; one sister, Cheryl (Melvin) Neal of Cedar Rapids, and one brother, Donnie Clinton of Utah. He was preceded in death by his father, and three brothers: Duane K. Clinton, James W. Clinton, and Thomas A. Clinton. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the White Funeral Home in Independence. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.
