ORION, Ill. – Dennis D. Solberg, 75, of Orion, Ill., died Thursday, Nov. 21, at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1001 9th Street, Orion, Ill. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at the Ark of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial was at Western Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Denny was born on March 6, 1938, in Rowley, the son of Theodore and Fern (Crain) Solberg. He married Jane Ann McNamara in Independence, and later married Sonja (Swanson) Bloomberg in 1984.
Denny was employed at the John Deere Tractor Works, Complete Goods Dept., in Waterloo, and Deere & Co., Moline, in the Pricing Dept. He retired from Deere in March of 1992. After he retired, Denny was an employee of Tennant Truck Lines, Orion. Denny and Sonja ran S and D Promotions and traveled the Farm Shows selling collectible John Deere Farm Show tractors and toys up until 2009.
Denny enjoyed NASCAR and had green blood for John Deere. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sonja Solberg; daughter, Renee (Tim) Rasmussen, Independence; step sons, Jon (Sandy) Bloomberg, Cambridge, and Brent (DeAnne) Bloomberg, Orion; step daughter, Emily Reyes, Aurora, Ill.; grandchildren, Tyler (Megan) Rasmussen, Zachary Rasmussen, and Derick Rasmussen, all of Independence, Allison and Carson Bloomberg, Orion, Mitchell, Jon, and Hannah Reyes, Aurora, Ill.; great granddaughter, Kendall Rasmussen; sisters, Judi (Sam) Kibler, Marion, and Jeanette (Norm) Hoffman, Cornville, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David Solberg.
