MANCHESTER – Dennis LaVern Johnson, 55, of Manchester passed away at home surrounded by his family Saturday, Nov. 30.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 5 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 4 with a 3 p.m. Scripture Service at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Manchester. Additional visitationwill be one hour before services on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.
Dennis was born Aug. 12, 1958, the son of Everett and Mildred (Robinson) Johnson. He graduated from West Delaware High School in 1976 and then attended Ellsworth Community College and UNI. On July 2, 1983, Dennis was united in marriage to Becky Weber at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester.
Dennis was a kind and loving man who enjoyed traveling, biking and researching on the computer. His family was his first priority and he always kept a positive outlook. His goal was to try to make everyone smile. Dennis farmed from 1983 until 1998 and also worked for the United States Postal service as a city letter carrier in Independence for 29 years. Dennis recently joined St. Mary Parish.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Becky; two children, Nick Johnson (fiancé Mackenzie Burger) of Kansas City, Mo. and Lindsey (Adam) Grubb of Marion; his parents, Everett and Mildred Johnson of Manchester; one sister, Denise Heims of Coggon; and his mother-in-law, Clarice Weber of Manchester.
Dennis was preceded in death by his grandparents; and his father-in-law, LeRoy Weber.
