INDEPENDENCE – Donald G. Weber, 88, of Independence died on Saturday night, Dec. 15, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.
Donald was born on Oct. 1, 1924, in Independence, the son of John Francis and Alice Rose (Moore) Weber. He attended the Country Schools in Buchanan County. In October 1949 he was united in marriage to the late Evelyn Marie Scot in the Four Square Church in Independence, , where the couple made their home. Don was employed with the West Side Lumber and worked for three area farmers. In 1964 he began working as a custodian for the Independence Community Schools until his retirement in 1986. He also worked for the Buchanan County Fairgrounds, Greater Iowa Racing Association and Adams Family Furniture.
He is survived by two sons, Donald D. Weber of Milwaukee, Wisc., John W. Weber of Fort Dodge, a daughter; Willetta M. Weber of Independence, two grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a brother LaVern Weber of Independence, and a sister Elizabeth Bulver of Waterloo.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, with Rev. William Black officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory.
