WINTHROP - Doris Mary Ryan was born May 17, 1930 near Petersburg, Iowa the daughter of Alvin and Marcella Riesberg Lammers. She attended the local schools at New Vienna until her family moved to the Winthrop area. She graduated from Winthrop High School with the class of 1948. Doris worked at Tegen's in Independence, Clover Farm Grocery and Donavan's Food Market in Dubuque
Doris was united in marriage to Glen D. Ryan on August 9, 1965 at Resurrection Catholic Church in Dubuque.
Doris and Glen both worked at Donovan's Food Market until 1982. In 1984 they moved to Winthrop and Doris worked at McElroy's Grocery store for many years. Glen entered into his eternal rest on March 3, 1999.
Doris was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Winthrop. She entered into her eternal rest on Monday, July 20, after a lengthy illness at West Village Care Center in Independence. She was 79 years of age. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Glen.
Survivors include her children: Hal (Mary) Ryan of Tacoma, WA and Tina (Thad) Seymour of Gig Harbor, WA; four grandchildren: Christopher (Amber) Ryan, Amy Ryan, Karley Overland, and Colin Overland; three great grandchildren: Adyn Ryan Galliano, Kylee Ryan, and Brody Ryan; two sisters: Verna Alden of Masonville, IA and Betty (Bill) Cusick of Dyersville; four brothers: Roy Lammers of San Jose, CA; Les (Janet) Lammers of Estherville, IA; Hank (Connie) Lammers of Winthrop and Charlie (Ellen) Lammers of Manchester,IA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 22, 2009 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Winthrop with Rev. Donald J. Plamondon officiating. Music provided by organist Janet Dopp and St. Patrick's Choir. Casketbearers will be Colin Overland, Christopher, Bill Alden, David Cusick, Brian Lammers, and Gerald Fangman. Lector will be Michelle Heiserman. Eucharistic ministers will be Al and Stevie Lammers. Gift bearers will Amy Ryan and Karley Overland. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery at Winthrop. Friends may call from 3 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 with a scripture service at 7:30 PM and on Wednesday, July 22,2009, until 10 AM at the Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop.
