Obituary

MASONVILLE – Edwin "Ed" Sadlon, 92, of Masonville entered into his eternal rest on Friday, Sept. 30, at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point, Iowa.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, at the Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop, Iowa with Pastor Kurt Pasko officiating. Visitation was on Tuesday, October 4 from 4 until 7 p.m. and on Wednesday, October 5 until services. Interment with military rites will be held at the Fontana Cemetery south of Hazleton, Iowa.
Ed Sadlon was born July 20, 1924 in Cedar Township of Linn County, Iowa the son of George and Bessie Zobeck Sadlon. After completing his education, Ed joined the U.S. Army on October 19, 1944. He served during WWII in the Philippines until his honorable discharge on November 23, 1946.
Ed was united in marriage to Kathleen "Kate" Vredenburg on March 5, 1952 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. To this union were born five children: Tony, Dixie, Rita, Robin, and Wanda. Kate preceded Ed in death on October 24, 2002.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Kate; his son Tony; his son-in-law Al Long; two sisters: Lucille Hatfield and Louise Johnson; and his brother, Bob Sadlon.
Survivors include his four daughters: Dixie Long of Bertram, Iowa; Rita Johnson of Ridgecrest, Calif.; Robin (Don DeSotel) Paulsen of Manchester, Iowa; and Wanda Demmer of Dyersville, Iowa; twelve grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.
The Fawcett Funeral Home and Cremation services of Winthrop is assisting the family with arrangements.
