JESUP - Exie Walton, 93, formerly of Jesup, died Tuesday, March 29, in the Long Term Care Unit of the Buchanan County Health Center, Independence, where she has been a resident since October 2008.
She was born on the family farm in Spring Creek Township of Black Hawk County, Aug. 22, 1917, the daughter of Oscea Alvin Clark and Della (Mills) Clark. She attended Jubilee Consolidated School and graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1935. Following high school she helped on the family farm and did domestic housework.
On Feb. 19, 1955, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Keith Walton in Vinton. They farmed until retirement in 1979. Lloyd, preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 2005. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Jubilee, rural LaPorte City; the church WELCA and the Independence Garden Club in Independence.
Mrs. Walton is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Phyllis Walton, Waterloo; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a brother, John M. Clark, LaPorte City. In addition to her husband, Lloyd, she is preceded in death by her parents and a brother in infancy.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 4, at Zion Lutheran Church, Jubilee, rural LaPorte City. Burial will be at Wilson Cemetery, Independence. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.
