WATERLOO - Frederick W. Hahn, 95, of Waterloo, and formerly of the Lamont and Independence, died Wednesday, July 13, at the Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center in Waterloo.
Fred was born on March 23, 1916, in Lamont, the son of Henry J. and Tillie A. (Busse) Hahn. He was a 1934 graduate of the Lamont High School, Lamont. Following his graduation he farmed with his father. He entered the US Army on Feb. 4, 1942 serving during WW II until his discharge on Oct. 20, 1945. He returned to the Independence area and worked as a contractor throughout the Independence and Lamont area until his retirement in 1978.
He is survived by a son Larry Hahn, Waterloo, a daughter Linda Burk, Peoria, Ariz., two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Celia in 2003, four brothers; Hurbert, Lawrence, Oscar, and Walter Hahn, and three sisters; Irene Arnold, Doris Pape, and Margaret Mann.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at the Reiff Funeral Home and Crematory, Independence, with burial in the Floral Hills Cemetery Hazleton. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until services Saturday at the funeral home.
