JANESVILLE, Wis. – George C. Wilson, age 91, of Janesville, Wis., died on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, at his home. He was born on Oct. 24, 1924 in Littleton, Iowa, the son of Clyde and Blanche (Brown) Wilson. He married Agnes Mazur in 1947 and she preceded him in death in 1993. He served in the US Navy during the South Pacific Conflict in Saipan. He had worked for many years for John Deere as a maintenance mechanic.
He is survived by his three children: Karen McIlwain of Janesville, Wis., Sandy (Jim) Melvin of Janesville, Wis., and Scott (Kelly) Wilson of Maryland; six grandchildren: Jeffrey, Susanna, Emily, Cole (Madison), Austin, and Holly; two great grandchildren, Reece and Rhett; three siblings: Warren (Jeannie) Wilson, Eileen Siedlecki, and DeVee (Bob) Wumkus; and many other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and five siblings: Jack Albright, Addie Head, Dean Wilson, Nadine Green, and Earl Wilson.
A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015 at 11 a.m., at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, (512-5th Street NE, Independence, Iowa). Interment will be at the St. John Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of service.
