Geraldine M. (Hennessey) Welter (1919 - 2016)


INDEPENDENCE – Geraldine M. Welter, 96, a lifelong resident of Monti, Iowa died Feb. 15, 2016 in Cape Coral, Fla. She was born Oct. 18, 1919 in Oneida to Maurice and Anna Hennessey.
The wake will be from 3 to 7 p.m. at Monti Community Center on Saturday, Feb. 26, and the funeral at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Monti on Saturday, Feb. 27.
Gerry was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, of St. Andrews in Cape Coral, and a volunteer at Kiwanis in Cape Coral.
She is survived by 14 loving children: William of Central City, Robert of Greeley Colo., Joanne Alvis of Galena, Ill., Richard Welter of Cape Coral, Patrick of St. Petersburg Fla., Donald of Cape Coral, Stephen of Coggon, Daniel of Newbury Park Calif., Sharon Yaeger of Brookfield Wis., Francis of Masonville, Mary of Dundee Ill., Janet of Cape Coral, Marguerite of Riverwoods, Ill., and John of Riveria Beach, Fla.; six siblings: Catherine DeLucia of St. Petersburg, Maurice Hennessey of Ryan, Marilyn McElligott of Waterloo, Sr. Gwen Hennessey of Sioux City, Larry Hennessey of Cape Coral, and Mary June McDonald of Delhi; 29 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
Geraldine was preceded in death by husband Donald Welter; daughter Carol Ames; and eight siblings.
