BRANDON – Gordon L. West, 55 years old, of Brandon, died on Sunday, Jan. 12, at his home. He was born on June 27, 1958, in Independence, the son of William LeRoy and Georgia Fay (Rouse) West. He graduated from high school in Independence, and attended Hawkeye Technical Institute in Waterloo. Mr. West was a construction carpenter until he was forced to retire due to his health. He married the former Diana Lynne Winsor in 1979 in Vinton, Iowa. They later divorced. In 1984, he and the former Genevieve Louise Robinson were married in Bertram. They also divorced. He then married Kimberly Dalton in Brandon. Mr. West was associated with the United Methodist Church in Brandon. He enjoyed spending time with friends and working with his hands. He could build most anything if someone could describe it to him.
Mr. West is survived by his wife, Kimberly, of Oelwein, three daughters, Jessi (Marty) Lee of Hills, Erica West of Center Point, and Katie (Jarin) Gerst of Morning Sun; and one son, Joshua (Vanessa Wieck) West of Vinton. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and two sisters, Glenda Westphal of Rowley and Gloria (Keith) Persson of Claremore, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Greg West, and one brother-in-law, Al Westphal.
Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, at the United Methodist Church in Brandon, with Rev. Mark Dieter officiating. Burial will be in Brandon Cemetery in Brandon. Friends may call for visitation from 4 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16, at the White Funeral Home in Independence. On line condolences may be left at www.White-MtHope.com.
