WATERLOO – Jack R. Parks, 77, of Waterloo, died Saturday, June 2, at Sartori Hospital in Cedar Falls of a stroke.
He was born July 21, 1934 in Waterloo, the son of Harley and Alice Homan Parks. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
He married Charlotte I. Forsyth on Nov. 24, 1956 in Waterloo. He worked as a mechanic for Jim's Truck Service, Takin Brothers, A & R Trucking, Lift Truck, CRST in Cedar Rapids, Wilbur Auto Body, Kroblin Transfer, and also did detail work for car rentals.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Robert (Penny) Parks of Waterloo; one daughter, Charlene Paris of Waterloo; one brother, Stanley N. Nerade of Golden, CO; two sisters, Opal Hanna of Waterloo, Patricia (Dick) Shores of MO; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, David, Donald, James; and two sisters, Rosemary Tegtmeier and Marian Hahn.
Services will be Friday, June 8, at 10:30 a.m. at Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and an hour before services at the church.
