Jane M. Hohl, 90, of Independence, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence following a short illness. She was born Aug. 10, 1920, in Independence, the daughter of Howard Francis and Hazel Etta (Buckler) O'Brien. She graduated from the Independence High School in 1938 and attended the Independence Junior College. On March 30, 1941, she and Ralph Robert Hohl were married at the First Baptist Church in Independence. He preceded her in death in 2003. Mrs. Hohl worked at Tegen's Variety Store and she was a nurse's aide at Peoples Memorial Hospital and the Mental Health Institute, all in Independence. She eventually became the librarian at the Mental Health Institute, a post she held for over 25 years. Mrs. Hohl is survived by one daughter, Barbara Rognerud of Independence; one son, Jake Hohl of Cheyenne, Wy.; two grandchildren: Jaime Hohl of Denver, Colorado, and Stacy (John) Hoban of Ft. Collins, Colo, and one sister-in-law, Marlys Templeton of Independence. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Howard C. O'Brien. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Independence. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.
