OELWEIN – Jane L. Palmer, 63, of Oelwein, died on Sunday morning, Feb. 5, at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters in Oelwein.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein with Denise Lindemann officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein. Jane Lee Adams was born Sept. 19, 1953, at Oelwein, the daughter of Leslie and Ruth Ann (Kunkle) Adams. She attended Oelwein Community Schools and graduated from Independence High School in 1971. On May 19, 1973, she was united in marriage to Donald Melvin Palmer at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence. Over the years Jane was employed as a custodian for the Oelwein Community Schools, Kidsville in Independence and Isle of Capri in Marquette and Waterloo. Jane enjoyed going to the casino, attending her grandchildren's sports activities and most of all spending time with her family.
Jane is survived by her husband of 44 years, Donald Palmer of Oelwein; her daughter, Tammy (Ed) Richards of Fayette; two sons: Tim (Sheena) Palmer of Oelwein, and Nick (Nycole) Palmer of Oelwein; 10 grandchildren: Dustin, Denver and Devin Richards, Mackenzie, Addyson, and Lila Palmer, Cole, Camren, Caden and Corbyn Palmer; two brothers: George (Judy) Adams of Clinton, and Jim (Margie) Adams of Clinton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandmother, Stella Kunkle; two brothers: Paul and Bill Adams; and a sister: Judy Unglesbee.
