INDEPENDENCE – Kathryn L. Miller, 90, of Independence, died Saturday afternoon, April 7, at West Village Care Center, Independence.
Kathryn was born on Dec. 24, 1921, near Hazleton the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Weber) Michels. She was a 1939 graduate of the Stanley High School, Stanley and was united into marriage on Sept. 19, 1945 to Raymond L. Miller in Hazleton. The couple farmed in the Rowley, Iowa area until moving into Independence in 1957. Kathryn enjoyed her family, quilting and crafting.
She was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church, the St. John's Rosary Society, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and the Sew and Sew Quilters Club.
She is survived by four daughters: Sandra Wilson, West Des Moines, Mary Ann (Bob) Logothetti, Freeport, Ill., Marcella (Marv) Hosch, Rushford, Minn., and Barbara (George) Patschke, Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Kerns, Fairbank.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond on July 5, 2001, and son-in-laws; Larry DePaepe and Jerry Wilson. A sister; Christina Brady and two brothers; John Michels, and Robert Michels,
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 12, at the St. John's Catholic Church, Independence, with Rev. Don Plamondon officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetyery, Independence. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, where a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.
