Kaye N. White 90, of Independence died Wednesday afternoon, March 3, 2010 at her home at Prairie Hills Assisted Living Center in Independence following a short illness. Kaye was born Aug. 1, 1919 in Kirriemuir Alberta Canada, the daughter of John and Kate (Lupino) Mazur. On August 19, 1941 she was united in marriage to John A. White in Independence. Survivors include eight children: John White, Independence; Jim White, Stanwood; Judy (Terry) Thiessen, Winthrop; Jerry White, West Branch, Ill.; Joe White, Shell Rock; Jeff (Luci) White, Independence; Janet (Len) Billerbeck, Cedar Rapids, and Jackie (Jim) Engelbrecht, Mt. Vernon; 19 grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and a sister Mary Jane Diltz of Phoenix, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Kate Mazur, daughter Patricia White; three brothers: John, Tom and Joe Mazur and three sisters Josephine Decker, Ann Buelow, and Agnes Wilson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Independence with Rev. Don Plamondon officiating. Burial will be in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 P.M. Friday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence where a rosary will be recited at 3 P.M. and a parish vigil service will be held at 7 P.M. Friday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Kay White Memorial fund, at Security State Bank, 231 1st St. E. Independence, IA 50644.
