Independence - Kelly J. Lamphier, 39, of Independence, Iowa, died Jan. 31, at Covenant Medical Center following a long illness. She was born on September 9, 1970, in Waterloo, the daughter of Robert "Bob" Vincent and Patricia "Patty" Ann (Kies) Mangrich. She graduated from Don Bosco High School in Gilbertville, with the Class of 1988 and then continued her education at American Institute of Business in Waterloo, Iowa. She finished with a degree as a paralegal. She served with the U.S. Army in Germany during Operation Desert Storm. On November 18, 2000, she and Todd Allen Lamphier were married in Waterloo. At the time of her death, Mrs. Lamphier was a customer service clerk for Independence Light, Power, and Telecommunications in Independence. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Independence. Mrs. Lamphier was also an active volunteer and promoter of the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life held annually in Buchanan County. Mrs. Lamphier is survived by her husband, Todd, 1 son, Kaleb Lamphier, 2 daughters, Kennedy Lamphier and Addison Lamphier, all at home, and 1 step daughter Adrianna Lamphier of Indianapolis, Indiana. She is also survived by her parents, Patty and Bob Mangrich of LaPorte City, Iowa, 1 sister, Sheila (Dave) McGrew of Elk Run Heights, Iowa, 1 brother, Luke (Bryn) Mangrich of Waterloo, Iowa, and 3 nieces and nephews, Nichole McGrew, Matthew McGrew, and Kyra Mangrich.
She was preceded in death by 1 brother, Kevin Mangrich, and 1 nephew, Joshua McGrew.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at St. John's Catholic Church in Independence, Iowa. Rev. Donald Plamondon will be the Celebrant. Music will be provided by Mrs. Bonnie O'Brien, pianist, and the St. John's Choir. On Tuesday, Feb. 2nd, there will be a Parish Rosary at 3 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. at the White Funeral Home in Independence. Casket Bearers will be Troy Lamphier, Trent Lamphier, Mike Mangrich, Mark Mangrich, Mike Ortner, and Travis Fischels. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. White Funeral Home of Independence is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call for visitation after 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2nd, at the funeral home.
