Obituary

FAIRBANK - Kenneth K. Franck, 78, of Fairbank, died Monday morning, April 25, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 28, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairbank, with the Rev. Paul McManus officiating. Military rites will be conferred by Fortsch-Duffy American Legion Post 552 of Fairbank. Inurnment will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30 (weather permitting), in the I.C. Cemetery, Fairbank. Friends and family are welcome.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank.
Kenneth Karl Franck was born April 21, 1933, in Iowa City, the son of Carl and Pauline June (Strayer) Franck. Ken served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1953. He married Mary Nachtman on Nov. 27, 1952 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairbank. They made their home in Fairbank and Ken worked 35 years for John Deere and Company, retiring in 1990.
Survivors include his wife Mary of Fairbank; one daughter Paula (Rick) Cook of Sacramento, Calif.; three sons, Steve (Deanne) Franck of Independence, Kenny (Dixie) Franck Jr., and Darrell (Wendy) Franck, both of Fairbank; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; one brother Robert Franck of Waterloo; a half sister Barb of Phoenix, Ariz.; a stepsister Margarette Shreve of Sumner and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather Pauline and Earl Roberts; his father and stepmother, Carl and Esther Franck; and stepbrothers Ed and John Roberts.
