INDEPENDENCE – Larry D. Rommann, 68, of Independence died on Monday morning, Nov. 12 in the Buchanan County Heath Center in Independence.
Larry was born on Jan. 28, 1944, in Vinton the son of Mathias and Mable (Hatfield) Rommann. He was a 1962 graduate of the Jesup Community High School, Jesup. On Dec. 8, 1964, Larry entered the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam War until his discharge on Sept. 30, 1984. On Sept. 17, 2005 he was united into marriage to Connie J. Forney in Evansdale. The couple made their home in Independence where Larry was employed with the Mental Health Institute until his retirement.
Larry is survived by his wife, Connie Rommann, Independence, three children; Travis (Mark) Rommann, Dubuque, Kayla (Justin James) Rommann, Janesville, and Tyler Rommann, Jesup, a brother Ronald (Jean) Rommann, Independence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, with Rev. John Sheda officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory where a military memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
