Larry R. Weekley (1943 - 2017)

INDEPENDENCE – Larry R. Weekley, 73, of Independence died Monday, Jan. 23 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
He was born July 5, 1943 in Waterloo, son of Clarence and Beulah Wells Weekley. He married Janet S. Reed April 8, 1967 in Kirksville, Mo. She died December 4, 2011.
Larry was employed with the city of Waterloo in the sanitation department, Empire Engines, Weismann Steel, operated his own salvage yard and also a flea market.
Survivors include two sons: Larry "Jake" (Cindy) Weekley and Clarence Weekley, both of Waterloo; two daughters: Sandra (Darin) Halstead of Independence and Theresa Williams of Chattanooga, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; twelve step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Jerry (Julia) Weekley of Waterloo, and Billy (Sally) Weekley of Kirksville, Mo.
Preceded in death by a grandson; seven sisters: Geraldine Titus, Hattie Johnson, Betty Beenken, Darlene Becker, Judy Shurm, Nancy Mercurio and Esther Weekley; and seven brothers: Sonny, Clarence, Dewey, Donald, Harvey, Harold and Jack Weekley.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service, 300 West Ridgeway Ave, Waterloo, with burial in Bear Creek Cemetery, Brandon. Public visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and for an hour before services on Saturday.
