Loren E. Ferreter (1919 - 2013)

INDEPENDENCE – Loren E. Ferreter, 93, of Independence died Friday morning, Jan. 11, at the Buchanan County Health Care Center in Independence.
Loren was born on Dec. 9, 1919, near Rowley the son of John R. and Matilda D. (Kimm) Ferreter. On April 19, 1941 he was united into marriage to Veta L. Butterfield in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Monti. The couple farmed in the Quasqueton area. In 1959 Loren became employed with the John Deere Company in Waterloo while he continued to farm. Loren retired in 1981 and the couple moved into Independence in 1990.
Loren is survived by three children; Patricia (Ronald) Sandhoff, Schaller, Shirley (Louis) Wendling, Independence, and Michael (Judy) Ferreter, Independence, ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and a sister; Marjorie Scott, Winthrop.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Veta in 1993, a grandson Joey Wendling, and two brothers; Richard and Norman Ferreter.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Winthrop with Rev. Don Plamondon officiating. Burial will be in the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Winthrop. Friends call for visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence.
