OELWEIN – Madeline L. Mock, 91, of rural Sumner, Iowa died on Friday evening, Dec. 7, at the Oelwein Health Care Center at Oelwein.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairbank. Officiating will be Rev. Paul C. McManus and Deacon Jim Patera.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein where there will be a C.D.A. Rosary at 4 p.m. and a Parish Scripture Service at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery at Independence with graveside military rites by the Fairbank American Legion Fortsch-Duffy Post 552.
A Memorial Fund has been established in her name.

Madeline Lucille Wendling was born on Feb. 25, 1921 at Independence, the daughter of George and Mae Ann (Joyce) Wendling. She graduated from St. John's Catholic High School in Independence in 1939. Madeline received her RN nursing degree from Mercy Hospital for Nurses at Cedar Rapids in September of 1942. She then was a RN at People's Hospital in Independence before enlisting as an officer in the United States Naval Nurse Corps from 1943 to 1946 and was stationed in Seattle, Wash., Banning, Calif., San Francisco, Calif. and Alameda, Calif. After the service, Madeline was a private nurse for actor Robert Stack from the TV series "The Untouchables" in California. She later was a RN at the Sisters of Mercy Hospital in Oelwein and also served as a private duty nurse.
Madeline was united in marriage to Steven Daniel Mock on Feb. 15, 1950 at St. John Catholic Church in Independence. They lived and farmed near Oran throughout their lifetime. Madeline and Steven and their family enjoyed boating for many summers at their cabin at McGregor. Madeline and Steven also traveled the western United States in their motor home for many winters. Madeline was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Fairbank, Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Rita 321, and the Fairbank American Legion Fortsch-Duffy Post 552.
Madeline is survived by two daughters: Pam (Ron) Kerr McDow of Glendale, Ariz. and Jane Pagel of Westgate; three grandchildren: Lacey Mae Pagel of Gahanna, Ohio, Jesse Rose Pagel of Westgate, and Alexander Douglas Pagel of Westgate.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Steven D. Mock on March 18, 2010), a daughter (Susan Mock in 1973), son-in-law (Steve Kerr in 1974), a grandson (Shawn Kerr in 1993), son-in-law (Douglas Pagel in 2003), a sister (Catherine Wendling in 2005) and two brothers (Donald Wendling in 1997 and John "J.D." Wendling in 2012).
