INDEPENDENCE - Margaret C. Jacobsen, 85, of Independence, and formerly of Oelwein, died Friday, July 29, at the East Towne Care Center in Independence.
Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
Margaret Caroline Hall was born Oct. 4, 1925 in Oelwein, the daughter of Floyd and Leta Irene (Allen) Hall. She married Arthur Thomas Jacobsen Sr. on May 14, 1944 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Maynard. Margaret was a homemaker and has been a resident of East Towne Care Center in Independence, since February of 2009.
Margaret is survived by her daughter Karen Parks of Waterloo; two sons Arthur (Dawn) Jacobsen Jr., of Independence, and Donald (Roxie) Jacobsen of Oelwein; 10 grandchildren, Kenneth Jacobsen, Lori Smith, Melisa Jacobsen Childers, Jenny Smock, Jim Jacobsen, Jeremy Jacobsen, Daniel Jacobsen, Tami Tofte, Lisa Staker and Kathy Millard; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister Carol Strubel of Elk Run Heights; and a son-in-law Richard Smith of Apache Junction, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arthur T. Jacobsen Sr. on Dec. 12, 1984, a daughter Mary Ann Jacobsen Smith on April 17, 2009, a brother Jim Hall, and two sisters, Marge Dugan and Helen Frye.
