María del Socorro Bolaños Villalobos 77, of Alajuela, Costa Rica, died Thursday Oct. 28, at San Rafael Hospital of Alajuela, Costa Rica.
She was born Feb. 25, 1933, in San José, Costa Rica, daughter of Lidia Bolaños y Rafael Solís. She married Edie Guerrero Quesada on March 28, 1954.
She studied at Instituto of Alajuela and College of Monjas in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
She worked at Municipal Services of Alajuela, Alcoholic Clinic Patricio Perez of Alajuela, and Mental Hospital in San José, Costa Rica for several years before retiring in 1985. She also gave private English and typewriting lessons.
She enjoyed crocheting, writing songs, singing, cooking, and traveling. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years; two sons, Wilbert Guerrero Bolaños of Alajuela, Costa Rica; Luis A. Guerrero Bolaños (María) of Heredia, Costa Rica; four daughters: Lidia Guerrero Bolaños (Hugo) of Alajuela, Gisselle Munford (Sid) of Independence, Grettel Munford (Martin) of Farmington, and Isela Guerrero Bolaños of Alajuela; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Yita; her father, Rafael, and her stepfather, Victor Barrantes Hidalgo, and two infant children: Edie Antonio and Denia María Guerrero Bolaños.
Services were held Friday, Oct. 29, at Corazon de Jesus Church, with burial in Alajuela Central Cemetery. Funerary of the Magisterial National was in charge of funeral arrangements. She will be greatly missed. Memorials may be directed to the family.
