Marian Louise (Cook) Cocking (1927 - 2013)


WINTHROP – Marian Louise Cook Cocking was born July 6, 1927, at the Peoples' Memorial Hospital in Independence, the daughter of Clyde and Louise Reck Cook.
After he returned from World War II, Marian married Robert Cocking on Feb. 9, 1947, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence. They began their farming life on the farm where they lived for 34 years until Bob passed away on July 23, 1981. Marian continued to live there for another ten years, raising their two children, Kyron and Robin.
At the age of 86 years, Marian entered into her eternal rest on Saturday, April 27, at Buchanan County Health Care Center.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Robert; and her brother, Edwin Cook.
Survivors include her son, Kyron (Shirley) Cocking of Winthrop; her daughter, Robin Cocking of Waterloo; two grandsons; her brother, Fred (Margaret) Cook of Hazleton; her sister-in-law, Evelyn Cook of Independence; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop, on Tuesday, April 30, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kurt Bockoven officiating. Interment was in Fremont Cemetery, north of Winthrop.
