INDEPENDENCE – Marjorie Ann Rasmussen, 92, of Independence, Iowa died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016 at the Lexington Place Care Center, Independence, Iowa.
Marjorie was born on Aug. 29, 1923 near Brandon, Iowa, the daughter of Victor H. and Lela F. (Dauenbaugh) Carroll. She was a 1943 graduate of the Quasqueton High School in Quasqueton, Iowa. On June 29, 1946 she was married to Judd D. Rasmussen in Independence, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Quasqueton, Iowa area until 1965, then moved into Quasqueton, living there until moving to Independence in 1983. Marjorie was an accomplished painter/artist and a very talented decorator, who loved gardening.
She is survived by five children: Dan (Sheila) Rasmussen and Tim (Renee) Rasmussen both of Independence, Fayla (Craig) Cannon, Rowley, Iowa, Mayla Krebsbach, Ventura, Calif., and Glenn Rasmussen, Los Angeles, Calif.; eleven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Judd Rasmussen in 2003, two sisters: Geraldine Beatty and Barbara Kress; and a brother Russell Carroll.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016 at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence. Inurnment will be held in the Quasqueton Cemetery, Quasqueton.
