Obituary

INDEPENDENCE – Marvin "Bobbie" Bandy, 87 years old, of Independence, died on Thursday, July 19, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence. He was born on Jan. 31, 1925, in Cherokee, the son of Marvin Lou and Effie Mae (Abbott) Bandy.
Mr. Bandy served in the United States Army during World War II. On June 5, 1948, he and the former Doris Mae Smith were married in Independence. She preceded him in death in 1969. On October 31, 1971, he and the former Alma Mae Beltz were married at the First United Methodist Church in Independence.
Mr. Bandy is survived by his wife, Alma, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Chuck (Margaret) Beltz of Independence, Patricia VanAuken of Ionia, Iowa, John (Bonnie) Beltz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Judy (Tom) Harland of Independence, Iowa, and Peggy (Terry) Clinton of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty Lou Puhl.
Funeral Services were at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, at the White Funeral Home in Independence, with Pastor Kurt Bockoven officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.
