OELWEIN – Mary E. Dingbaum, 79, of Oelwein, Iowa died on Thursday morning, Sept. 1, at Unity Point Allen Hospital in Waterloo.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein with Rev. Paul C. McManus and Deacon Jim Patera officiating.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein. A CDA Rosary will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein. An online obituary is available at www.jamisonschmitzfuneralhome.com.
Mary Elizabeth Prier was born on Sept. 18, 1936 in Farley, Iowa the daughter of John and Agnes (Gravel) Prier. Mary was united in marriage to Irvin Joseph Dingbaum on October 7, 1958 in Prairieburg, Iowa. She was a homemaker and an Avon representative for over 20 years. Mary was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Rita. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and cooking.
Mary is survived by her five children: Anita (Jim Peters) Dingbaum of Waterloo, Louise (Edward) Adams of Cedar Falls, Daniel (Kim) Dingbaum of Moorpark, Calif., Rebecca (Rick) Wilberding of Waterloo, and Victoria (Craig Corkery) Dingbaum of Independence; 12 grandchildren: Janie Stearns, Kaitlyn Adams, Kristin Adams, Elizabeth Dingbaum, Heather Dingbaum, Zachary Dingbaum, Amanda Wilberding, Thomas Wilberding, Melissa Corkery, Jodie Corkery, Jackie Corkery and Jamie Corkery; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Alice Freiburger of Manchester; and two sisters-in-law: Rosemary Pasker of Manchester, Elsie Dingbaum of Dyersville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Irvin on August 19, 2015; granddaughter, Maggie Wilberding; and brother-in-law, Earl Freiburger.
