GREENSBORO, N.C. - Michael P. Vawter, 48, of Greensboro, North Carolina and formerly of Hazleton died suddenly on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at his home in Greensboro. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein. Visitation: from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein where there will be a Parish Wake Service at 7:00 P.M.; Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery at Oelwein. Memorials may be given in his name to Cedar Valley Hospice. Online Obituary at: www.jamisonschmitzfuneralhome.com Michael is survived by: Mother-Helen Vawter of Hazleton; two brothers-Kenneth (Linda) Vawter of Newhall and Ronald (Shirley) Vawter of Hazleton; four nieces and nephews; eight great-nieces and -nephews; He was preceded in death by his Father (Gerald W. Vawter)-an Infant Sister-- and a Niece (Hope P. Miculinich). Michael Patrick Vawter was born on February 27, 1962 at Oelwein, the son of Gerald W. and Helen Elsie (Bieri) Vawter. He graduated from Oelwein Community High School at Oelwein in 1980. Michael was a supervisor at the Lorillard Tobacco Factory in Greensboro. He was also a volunteer worker with Hospice in the Greensboro and surrounding areas.
