LEESBURG, Fla. – Paul J Wilkinson was born July 14, 1924 to John and Florence Emma (Kruger) Wilkinson. Paul attended Independence, Iowa schools. In World War II Paul served as a medic in the Philippines 1943-1946. On April 18, 1949 Paul and Agnes Mahoney were united in marriage at St. John's Catholic Church in Independence. To this union were born three daughters Lenore, Barbara and Paula. In 1952 the family moved to Joliet, Ill., where Paul was employed with Caterpillar Tractor Company as a Systems Analysts. He retired in 1986, moved back to Independence and wintered in Leesburg, where Paul enjoyed playing poker, canasta and billiards with many friends. He enjoyed the country life and gardening in Independence.
Paul died peacefully in his home in Leesburg, on Tuesday, April 5, 2016.
He is survived by his loving wife Agnes; three daughters: Lenore Nessler, Davenport, Iowa, Barbara & Bill Harrington, Maxwell, Iowa, and Paula & Mark Skolds, Independence and Fruitland Park, Fla.; five grandsons: Bradley & Christine Horsley, Monument Colo., David & Tammy Jasper, Fairbank, Iowa, John & Crystal Jasper, Dunkerton Iowa, Paul & Denise Hills Dyer, Ind., and Richard & Casey Hills, Griffith, Ind.; and 10 great grand children.
He is also survived by his brother, Thomas & Bernadine Wilkinson, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and a sister, Janice DuToit, Tyler, Texas.
Private services were held.
