Pauline Ruth "Polly" (Hall) Bellmer (1926 - 2015)


OELWEIN – Pauline R. "Polly" Bellmer, 89, of Oelwein, Iowa died on Saturday morning, Nov. 28, 2015 at Mercy Living Plus in Oelwein.
Funeral Services will be10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015 at Floral Hills Funeral Home, rural Oelwein, with Pastor Tim Schoepf officiating.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday and for one hour before the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein.
Memorial Fund may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
Pauline Ruth Hall was born Feb. 22, 1926 in Independence, Iowa the daughter of Evan and Gladys (Hall) Hall. She graduated from Independence High School in the Class of 1945. Polly was united in marriage to Charles William "Bill" Bellmer on Sept. 10, 1946 in Independence, Iowa. Polly was a homemaker, caring for her husband and three sons. She also worked at the Ritz Theatre in Oelwein as a cashier, at the White Spot Café for two years and then at the Super Value Grocery Store in the meat department for two years. Polly later worked at Montgomery Ward as the catalog department manager for sixteen years. In 1984 she started selling porcelain dolls. In 1991 she opened Polly's Dolly's & Ceramic Shop in Independence, retiring in 2003. Polly was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oelwein. She enjoyed trips to Minnesota, fishing, water skiing and making craft items with her family.
Polly is survived by her three sons: Robert Bellmer of Oelwein, William (Amy) Bellmer of Cedar Rapids and Scott (Denise) Bellmer of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister Linda Rae (Ed) Short of Sioux Falls, S.D.; brother Elwin "Skip" (Marsha) Hall of Guttenberg; and nieces and nephews.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents; husband Charles on Aug. 31, 2003; four brothers: Donald, Evan, Vernon and Burton; two sisters: Norma Jean Mullin and Arladene Mae "Tooty" Meharry; and a daughter-in-law, Lana Bellmer.
