Peter D. Barron (1928 - 2011)

ROWLEY - Peter D. Barron, 83, of rural Rowley, died on Saturday, June 25, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, following a short illness.
He was born on June 24, 1928, in Waterloo, the son of Harold Pete and Edith (Anibal) Barron. He graduated from East High School in Waterloo in 1946 and attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. He serviced in the U.S. Army Air Corps during the Korean Conflict.
On May 6, 1951, he and the former Shirley Arlene Carson were married in Rowley. She preceded him in death in 1999. Mr. Barron farmed in Buchanan County. He was also a Pioneer Hi-Bred International sales representative for 22 years. He never really retired. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and he enjoyed the Iowa casinos.
Mr. Barron is survived by two daughters, Nikki (Rick) Matthiesen of Independence, and Tonia (Kevin Gednalske) Neukirch of Yutan, Neb., and two sons, Keven (Lori) Barron of Manchester, and Chris (Lisa) Barron of Washburn. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and one sister, Delpha Barron of Waterloo.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, at the First United Methodist Church in Independence. Burial will be in the Rowley Cemetery in Rowley.
