Ray E. Temeyer (1923 - 2011)

INDEPENDENCE - Ray E. Temeyer, 88, of Independence, died on Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence.
He was born on April 11, 1923, in Vinton, the son of Earl Albert and Lena Viola (Fueher) Temeyer. He attended the Buchanan County schools. On March 16, 1963, he and the former Betty Ann Smetzer were married in Vinton. They farmed in Buchanan County until retiring in 1988.
Mr. Temeyer enjoyed deer hunting and attending local auctions. He looked for farm machinery that he could tinker with and then resell. He and Betty wintered in Florida for many years where he enjoyed fishing and attending auctions. Mr. Temeyer was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Independence, the Farm Bureau, and Ducks Unlimited and he was formerly a member of the Independence Lions Club.
Mr. Temeyer is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty, two brothers, John (Louise) Temeyer of Independence, and George (Carol) Temeyer of Jesup, and two sisters, Carol (Dick) Siglin of Independence, and Kathe (Rex) Hooton of St. James, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles Temeyer and Harold Temeyer, and three sisters, June Bonefas, Marge Steinbron, and Donna Lynch.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, at the First Presbyterian Church in Independence. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. White Funeral Home in Independence is in charge of the arrangements.
