INDEPENDENCE – Richard L. Postel, 51, of Independence died Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 9, at his home in Independence following a short illness with cancer.
Richard was born on June 28, 1958, in Independence, the son of Billy and Jean (Olsen) Postel. He attended the Independence Schools and then became employed as a truck driver with Halford & Sons, F.J. Krob, Wieland & Sons Lumber Co., and the Postel Welding Shop. He was united in Marriage to Kathleen J. McCardle on December 28, 1976 in Independence.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; three sons: Chad (Lori) Postel, Tim and Adam Postel all of Independence; two grandchildren: Grant and Kegan Postel; his mother, Jean Postel, Independence, and eight brothers and sisters; Mary Jean (Carl) Eddy, Bill (Charlotte) Postal, Mike Postel, all of Independence; Pat (Larry) Hunziker, Shellsburg; Kenny (Robin) Postel, Independence; Brenda (Mike) Freeland, Hudson; Becky (Darrell) Williams, Vinton and Wendy (Rick) Schoenfield, Independence.
He was preceded in death by his father Billy Postel.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Independence with burial in St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 8 P.M. Friday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence where a parish vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
