BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. – Robert Douglas Hanson, 53, of Blountville, Tenn. Passed away Tuesday, Nov. 24 at NHC Healthcare in Johnson City, Tenn., of a malignant brain tumor.
Robert was born Oct. 1, 1962 in Ilion, N.Y., to Robert Edwin and Ruth E. (Grover) Hanson. The family moved to Blountville in 1976.
Robert graduated from Sullivan County (Tennessee) High School in 1980 and the Tri City Tech School in 1984. He married Lisa Renea Smith, but later divorced.
Survivors include his mother; 44 first cousins; and many aunts and uncles in Northeast Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father in June 2008.
Robert worked at the Tri City Airport near Blountville for the past 12 years. He was a member of the Blountville Christian Church. He enjoyed working on cars, doing electrical work, and many woodworking projects. He leaves behind his dog, Hogan.
Visitation will be held 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Rowley United Methodist Church in Rowley, Iowa. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Sheri Andersen officiating. Interment will be in the Rowley Cemetery at a later date.
