INDEPENDENCE - Ronald W. Chandler, 80 years old, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Independence, died on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion.
He was born on July 5, 1931, in Buchanan County, the son of Jasper and Erma Rose (Snyder) Chandler. He attended the Buchanan County country schools. Mr. Chandler farmed with his parents. He also enjoyed bowling.
Mr. Chandler is survived by one sister, Patricia Colton of Marion, one sister-in-law, Kathie Chandler of Watertown, Wis., and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Marcia Petcavage and Phyllis Yearous, and one brother, Michael Chandler.
Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 26, at the White Funeral Home in Independence. His cremated remains will be buried in Wilson Cemetery in Independence at a later date.
White Funeral Home of Independence is in charge of arrangements.
