BANNING, Calif. – Rosie Marie Gissel, 82, formerly of Independence, died June 26, in Banning, California.
Rosie was born March 30, 1929 in Independence the daughter of Rose (Straw) and Henry Necker.
She married Harvey Gissel on October 29, 1948.
She attended Independence School s and helped many years in the nursery at First Baptist Church and with the youth on Mission trips. She also worked at Montgomery Wards for ten years in California. Later in life she loved to feed the birds and plant flowers. In the last months of her life she was cared for by her daughters.
She is survived by her eleven children, 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Arlene Necker, Independence; brother-in-law Kenneth Downs, Independence; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey of 33 years, her brother Burton Necker, sister Emma Downs, Robert (in infancy) and granddaughter Adrienne Miles. Rose gave thanks for each new day the good Lord gave her. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to USO, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or any Baptist School.
Services were held Sat., June 30, 10 a.m. at Rose Hills Funeral Chapel, Whittier, California. Mccormick & Son Mortuary in Laguna Hills, California, was in charge of arrangements.
