BYHALIA, Miss. – Shayla Ann Louise Lewis, 9 of Byhalia, Miss. passed away early Wednesday morning, April 3 following a sudden illness.
Shayla was born Dec. 25, 2003 in Memphis, Tn., the daughter of Melissa Rohrick. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at the Autumn Woods Memorial Park in Olive Branch, Miss., with the Reverend Michael James officiating.
Shayla is survived by her mother, Melissa of Byhalia, Miss.; a sister, Layla Harmon of Byhalia, Miss.; grandparents Terry Starley of Byhalia, Miss., Craig and Carolyn Rohrick of Independence, and John Olsen of Murietta, Calif.; great-grandparents Dorothy Rohrick of Oelwein, and Robert and Olga Olsen of Vista, Calif.; aunts Christine Chappell of Independence and Lin (Trace) Brown of Cedar Rapids; uncles Rick and Steve Higgins of Independence; great aunt and uncle Pam and Stuart Schlappi of Alta Loma, Calif.; along with numerous cousins and other loved ones. Shayla was preceded in death by a brother Ryan and sister Markayla.
Twin Oaks Memorial Garden and Funeral Home of Southaven, Miss., is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
Shayla was a strong and courageous little girl, who fought off cancer and various other afflictions her whole life, but she could always bring a smile and laughter to those around her. She will be dearly missed by her family and loves ones, but we know she is now re-united with her sister and brother in heaven where she is able to walk and dance with the angels until we see them again.
