Independence - Thomas R. Baldwin, 69, of Independence, Iowa, died on Tuesday, March 29, at East Towne Care Center following a short illness.
He was born on May 29, 1941, in Buchanan County, the son of Clifford Henry and Frances Hazel (Malcom) Baldwin. He graduated from high school in Jesup in 1960. Baldwin served with the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam. He worked for the Wonder Bread Bakery, Waterloo, Riley Construction, Ossian, and the Wapsipinicon Golf Club, Independence, before becoming the groundskeeper at the Buchanan County Fair, Independence.
Mr. Baldwin is survived by three brothers: Jim (Peg) Baldwin, Hazleton, Bud (Sandy) Baldwin, Waterloo, and Bill (Eloise) Baldwin, Fairbank, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 31, at the White Funeral Home, Independence. Burial will be at a later date.
