CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Vernon Dale Van Tasell, 77, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away on May 9 at Hope Hospice surrounded by his family. Born in Coggon on Sept. 26, 1934, Vernon served in the U.S. Army as a Map Specialist during the Korean War. After returning from the war, he owned Van's Concrete along with Van's Sporting Goods in Independence. Vernon and family moved to Cape Coral in 1988. Shortly after that, he purchased Cape Coral Rent–A-Car and successfully grew that business until his retirement in 1999.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Phyllis; children, Gwenlyn Nash, Kristie (Darryl) Coulter, Mark (Nikki) Van Tasell, Ryan (Lisa) Van Tasell; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 1630 Pine Island Rd., Cape Coral on Saturday, May 12 at 6 p.m., with a visitation to begin at 4 p.m. Please visit www.coralridgefuneralhome.com to leave thoughts and memories for his family.
