Virginia M. Landis, 94, of Independence, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, at East Towne Care Center in Independence following a long illness. She was born on March 14, 1915, in Independence, the daughter of George and Margaret Emily (Bolsinger) Landis. She graduated from high school in Independence in 1933, and then finished the course of study at the Independence Junior College. Landis was a clerk at the ASCS office for 39 years. Then she was a court attendant for Buchanan County for 17 years before she retired. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Independence, B.P.W., the Dirty Dozen, the Peoples Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Women's Auxiliary Unit, and the Buchanan County Historical Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Gail Landis.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, at the White Funeral Home in Independence, Iowa, with Rev. Dennis Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Mt.
