Warren Roy Collins (1913 - 2012)


JESUP – Warren Roy Collins, 99 years old of Jesup, died Friday, Oct. 12, with his family by his side at the Buchanan County Health Center Long Term Care Unit, Independence. He was born Aug. 15, 1913, in Peoria, IL, the son of George H. and Ruth (Engler) Collins.
On Oct. 21, 1938, he was united in marriage to Stella Mae Ulm in Maquoketa.
Mr. Collins is survived by his wife Stella of Jesup; three sons, Roger (Sheila) Collins of Jesup, Virgil (Mitzi) Collins of Independence, Clark (Maggie) Collins of Guttenberg; one daughter, Connie (Lester) Ott of Jesup, daughter-in-law, Kay (Zuck) Collins of Greeley, Colo. He is preceded in death by one son, Ivan Collins; two brothers, Glenn and Wilbur Collins; three sisters, Mable Peters, Bernice Steward, Maxine Argent and his parents.
Funeral services were held 10 a.m. – Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the American Lutheran Church, Jesup with Rev. Dawn Pederson officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup. Visitation was 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church. Memorial donations will be directed to the Cedar Valley Hospice.
