Teresa B. Montalvo, 69, of Urbana, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 in her home.
She was born November 7, 1948 in Urbana, the daughter of Robert Hilbert Buckney and Anna Jane (Lancaster) Buckney Whetsel. Teresa was a graduate of Urbana High School and worked in collections with Sun Systems, traveling to California and Colorado. She attended St. Paul AME Church in Urbana and thoroughly enjoyed cooking, making Nieman Marcus bars for friends and family, tending to her plants, and fishing. Most of all, Teresa loved her family and spending time with them.
Teresa is survived by her sister, Ruth "Toni" Buckney; her nephew, Ben (Holly) Buckney; her niece, Whitney Buckney; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including a special cousin and best friend, Angie Portis and many others.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Feleberto Montalvo; her brother, Robert Neil Buckney; her sister, Shirley Lynn; and her step-father Raymond Whetsel.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 in the chapel at Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana with Elder Herschel Byrd officiating.
Services are entrusted to VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana.
The family would like to thank anyone who has called to check in or sent a card or flower piece and would also like to extend a very special thank you to the kindhearted anonymous donor.

I met teresa when i was living in san jose, she was crazy! The kind of crazy you love to be around. She loved to laugh and be with friends, i hope she considered me one. We tried to keep in touch after she left san jose to colorado but it wasnt meant to be. She was a good friend and i miss her
