Elousie (Pittman) Felzien(1927 - 2014)

Elouise (Pittman) Felzien passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society-Sherman County nursing home in Goodland, Kan.

Elouise was born in St. Francis, Kan. on Dec. 9, 1927, the seventh child of John and Carrie Pittman.

She was raised in Bird City, Kan. and graduated from Bird City Rural High School on May 23, 1946.

She married Cecil Felzien on Dec. 21, 1946 in the pastor's office of Zion Lutheran Church in St. Francis, Kan. At this same time she was baptized and joined the Lutheran Church. They resided in Bird City, Kan. where a daughter, Marsha, and a son, Gregory, completed the family.

Due to business interests the family moved in 1950 to Burlington.

They joined and were active members of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday school and Bible school for many years.

She worked various jobs outside the home but was primarily a homemaker. In 1963 she was president of the VFW ladies auxiliary.

She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, listening to music, working in the yard and traveling with her husband.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 65 years, Cecil, father John, mother Carrie, sisters: Ruby, Bertha, Blondina, Mildred, Doris, and brother, Gerald.

She is survived by daughter, Marsha Jackson and husband Rick of Burlington; son Gregory Felzien of Brighton; sister-in-law Rosalee Felzien of Parker; seven grandchildren: Troy Adolf (Michael) of Modesto, Calif.; Lori Stannard (Noel) of San Jose, Calif.; Dr. Gregory Felzien of Oklahoma; Mark Felzien (Nola) of White City, Ore.; Heather Jackson Williams (Robert) of Erie; Travis Jackson (Shanna) of Greeley; Rebecca Jackson of Cheyenne Wells and 12 great-grandchildren. And two special grand pups, Brody and Tucker.

Memorials may be made in Elouise's name to Hospice Services of Sherman County and may be sent to P.O. Box 116, Phillipsburg, KS 67661.

Funeral services for Elousie were held on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 10 a.m. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Bill Viergutz officiating.

Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery, Burlington.

Visitation was held on Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Love Funeral Home, Burlington.
