Ruby Mielke, age 92, passed away in Burlington, Sunday, Dec 22, 2013. |
Born in Watkins, she was raised and spent many years in the Stratton area.
She is predeceased by her parents Bill Minshal and Lulu (Van d Venter) Minshal.
Ruby's gifted and dearly loved school teacher Mrs. Edith Quick said, "She was the brightest pupil she ever taught!" She was funny with a quick wit.
Sadly Ruby never had the opportunity to advance her ambitions due to economics.
She was firm in her beliefs – with God at the top of her list. She was extremely skilled with crafts; combining beads and crocheting to make hundreds of gifts for family and friends.
Never a malicious or unkind word about anyone crossed her lips.
She was rather a heartbreaker though, sometimes taking boyfriends from her sister Dolly.
Her first and second marriages were short lived as it sometimes goes, but her third marriage to Hallet McKenny the love of her life.
She was married a fourth time to Allen Mielke– although Allen was 17 years her junior they were happy and content. Tragically Allan died in an auto crash.
The last few years she was so blessed with friendships of Rita and her family and Tom and his family. And especially Carol at the Burlington Care Center, who went way beyond the call of duty to give her the best care 24/7.
May God Bless her and keep her.
Graveside services were held Friday. Dec. 27, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Mount View Cemetery in Bennett under the direction of Brown & Latimer Funeral Home, Burlington, with Fr. Jeff Walburn of Our Lady of the Plains Catholic Church officiating.
